01Information We Collect

We only collect personal data that you actively provide through specific forms and features on the Site. Here is exactly what each one collects:

Registration / Program Application

The Register form collects: first name, middle name, surname, email address, phone number, gender, date of birth, city, address, your preferred training track, your experience level, how you heard about us (referral source), a short written motivation, a password, and an optional profile photo. Submitting this form also generates a reference code and, once your application is reviewed, an internal @trainee.tekhub.ng address for use during the program.

Blog Comments

When you comment on a blog post, we collect the name and comment text you type, and an email address if you choose to provide one (it is optional). Your email address, if given, is not stored in readable form, it is one-way hashed before saving, so we cannot retrieve or read it back. We also store a one-way hashed version of your IP address, not the raw address, to help prevent spam and duplicate likes.

Newsletter

Subscribing to our newsletter collects only the email address you enter.

Contact & Connect Widget

Our contact form and the "Connect" widget's email and WhatsApp tabs collect what you type into them, typically your name, email, phone number, and message, so our team can respond to you.

Free Browser Tools

Our fingerprint demo and photo EXIF-viewer tools read information already exposed by your own browser, or embedded in a photo you choose to upload, and display it back to you live in your browser. See Section 6 for the one third-party service the fingerprint tool calls to show your approximate location.

02Your Profile Photo

This is a deliberate design choice: it means TEKHUB never has access to, or a copy of, whatever was in the original photo's background before you chose to remove it.

03How We Use Your Data

• To review and process your training program application, and to contact you about its status;
• To respond to messages you send through our contact form or the Connect widget;
• To send newsletter content to subscribers who opt in, and welcome messages upon signup;
• To display, moderate, and prevent duplicate or spam blog comments and likes;
• To understand how visitors use the Site (via Google Analytics) so we can improve it;
• To meet legal, regulatory, or record-keeping obligations connected to our training programs.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your registration data for purposes unrelated to your application or our services without asking you first.

05Storage & Security

Your data is stored in our MySQL database. We apply the following practical safeguards:

• Registration passwords are hashed before storage (via PHP's password_hash), we never store or can view your plaintext password;
• Comment email addresses and visitor IP addresses used for spam/duplicate prevention are one-way hashed, not stored in readable form;
• Your original, unedited profile photo is never uploaded to us at all (see Section 2);
• Access to the underlying database and admin tools is restricted to authorised TEKHUB staff.

No method of storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect the data you share with us.

09Your Rights (NDPA)

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate or outdated data;
• Request deletion of your data, subject to any legal or contractual reason we may need to keep it;
• Withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our newsletter;
• Object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
